Artistic Statement

As a writer, Joe writes to propel readers and audiences to that "eureka" moment—to find a way of talking about an idea, an experience, or a worldview in radical and linguistically propulsive ways thanks to his experience as an actor, poet, and visual artist.

His plays often explore themes of societal erosion, mental health, capitalism, and personhood through offbeat and unexpected ways. He is especially interested in exploring masculinity—what it means, its goods and ills, and how we must find a new definition of it.
