Artistic Statement
As a playwright, the work I am drawn to and want to write is that which sits at the intersection of humor and humanity. I believe that laughter is a universal access point through which people are able to confront what scares them in earnest and, in doing so, be motivated to affect change in their own lives. I am an optimist with a tremendous amount of existential dread, but always an optimist. I can find “the funny” almost anywhere, and I only feel afraid when there’s no room for laughter. My mission as an artist is to create as much room as possible.
