As a playwright and author, I have been interested in how women’s lives, medical treatment, control over their own bodies, and ability to use their talents to the fullest are dramatically impacted by whichever generation they happen to be born into. I also have a special interest in the individual's struggle to control the body -- its shape, fertility, addictions, pains -- especially with invisible disabilities and chronic illnesses, which women disproportionately struggle with. I always try to provide a timely and provocative big-picture POV on women's changing roles, based on telling honest, raw, and original stories about flawed humans. Most often through humor.

I started out in journalism. The most useful sensibility that I retain from that career is to produce timely work, that goes beyond self-expression, to also participate in an ongoing national conversations, no matter how controversial. Every play I write has an evident "why-now" purpose.
