Artistic Statement

I aim to build community and foster a sense of openness, creativity, and joy in all my plays. Although I often tend to focus on queer, found family-oriented, movement-heavy stories, I am always working on expanding my focus, as it is one of my core beliefs that the more you learn, the more well-rounded your writing will be! I also draw a lot of inspiration from every-day observations. My friends can attest that one of my catchphrases is “should I write a play about that?” Even though much of my work is abstract or set in a world not quite like our own, I pride myself on portraying realistic characters, relationships, dialogue, and struggles.
