Artistic Statement

My goal is to delight, surprise and connect audiences to our essential humanity as people. I hope for people to say, "Yes! I've felt that way too," and, "I've never thought about it like that!" as well as, "Omg what's going to happen next?" I write with a strong sense of visuals, and subtext. Sound plays an important role (my first play was produced on radio. I write to stretch actors. I think about how to use language and movement in such a way as to make the viewer, the hearer feel things in their body and think about things in a way they may not have before. My work strives to be redemptive, and to name things that are often unnamed. I explore contrast: light & dark themes, kitchen sink within the extraordinary, poetic contrasting with pragmatic dialogue.
