ARTISTIC STATEMENT
Not long ago, while searching for a home for one of my stories, I came across an odd requirement in the submission guidelines of a publisher's website. It read "No message fiction."
Well, thought I, count me out. Because EVERYTHING I write has a message. I am concerned about the future, and I believe that both fiction and drama have the power to save the world. This does not mean that I am solely dealing with apocalyptic reality. Rather, it means that it is even more important to craft well-written, entertaining works that surprise and delight the audience, while at the same time showcasing the choices we humans make as we come to grapple with our vicious and violent, kind and caring, eminently changeable nature.
