Artistic Statement
Women coping with their neuroses in awkward and grotesque ways is often at the center of my work. I love taking hyper-personal/disturbing feelings or relationship dynamics and dissecting them in a funny yet deeply painful way. My upbringing taught me that it’s in our nature as humans to find humor in things despite how discouraging the circumstances may be, and this sentiment often serves as my north star. Many of my plays heavily feature puppetry and dream sequences (oftentimes both together) as a theatrical device, and I often describe the way I visualize my plays as cartoons mixed with hyperrealism.
