When Pygmalion’s statue, Galatea, is brought to life by Aphrodite, life is seemingly complete. Galatea is literally made for him - a love ordained by the Gods - never mind that she is a living statue. Pygmalion hasn’t sculpted since. One day he is asked to make another statue, and now all he has to do… is get permission from his wife.

**Playwright’s Note: Galatea was first proposed to the Theatre of Others as a podcast musical exploring themes of female oppression and codependence within a patriarchal system. Over time, the project evolved to focus instead on the experiences of male survivors of intimate partner violence. Ultimately, Galatea the audio drama was presented by the Theatre of Others, while Galatea: A Musical Fable lives on with the MoreLife Theatre podcast.
