"Fear and hatred are mirrors. Love is windows." - Guillermo del Toro
As a writer, I'm drawn to themes of loneliness and isolation, often featuring two kindred spirits who recognize each other's humanity when society does not. I'm interested in exploring decay as characters insist upon carrying a facade of perfection. While I'm not immune to a good love story, love and fear are sisters. Love if left unattended can rot the bravery at its roots into something grotesque and dangerous.
I always return to one truth in this life: cost of fully being seen as your authentic self invites both rewards and consequences. Love does not erase the damage that has been done, and sometimes the desire for love can invite even more damage and regret. But I also have to believe that lost things are not unwanted. I write about the moments when those lost things find someone that wants them. I write about when lost things are found.
