Artistic Statement
When I begin a new play, I purposely set out to write a play unlike any I've written before. I've written for casts of 40 actors and for a cast of one; naturalistic plays with traditional sets and magical realism with an empty stage; three-act plays in the tradition of Kaufmann & Hart and one-act plays with no intermission; and plays set in the backwoods of Arkansas, a suburb in Ohio, a desolate farmhouse in Missouri, a bungalow in Key West, a radio studio in New York City, the Warsaw zoo in Poland, and the mind of Edna St. Vincent Millay.
My approach as an actor, director, designer, playwright and producer has always been to reach the widest and most diverse audience possible.
