Because of my mental health background, I think my strength is in characterization, since I have met and assisted a wide variety of people from all walks of life and all forms of dysfunction. I tend to write about relationships and the humor in them, as well as the spiritual connection that encases them. I love writing humor, but feel that humor should always have a layer of sadness and authenticity that touches the hearts of the audience. When approaching my writing, I tend to have a beginning and end in mind, and then let the playwrighting take me to wherever it seems right. I think that's why I love it so much. It can be as much of a nuanced journey for me as it hopefully is for the reader/viewer.
