I write plays and movies about people seeking control in situations they are ill-equipped to understand. I'm drawn to female friendship (especially across generations), to elevated realism, to dark humor. I write about bad boundaries and the blurry space between intimacy and control. After a decade of teaching middle school, I am particularly drawn to coming of age stories. I love a gross/weird/awkward sex scene. I look for the extraordinary in the mundane. I write characters who feel real.
