My main motto when I write is "Embellishing Existence." So... what does that mean?
In the world of linguistics, there exists the concepts of prescriptivism and descriptivism. Prescriptivism seeks to describe language as it ought to be while descriptivism seeks to describe language as it is. I believe that existence should be looked through both prescriptivist and descriptivist lenses. There are rules and fundamentals to how the world works, but in regards to how humans should live, there is no right answer to how a person should live. The human experience can thus be thought of embellishing the rules and fundamentals of reality to fit their ideologies, and my goal is to capture that in every one of my works.
If I can generalize the main theme across all of my plays, I'd say, "Treat differences with love." That's what embellishing existence is to me; having reality be imperfect but still strive to improve. I implore you to find out the rules of my plays so that you can test all the ways you can break them. After all, the true beauty of theatre is in the various interpretations of art coming together as one.
