I absolutely adore comedies with substance. I have been told that a common arc or style that I gravitate towards is having a comedic element that is heightened by characters that need to connect and struggle to do so. I love to understand how people and characters think, and translating that onto the page so people can see where natural disconnect occurs, sometimes humorously, sometimes not. Re-establishing that connection is a form of catharsis that I love to analyze and explore.

Comedy as a whole has gotten me through some of the darkest points in my life. One of my favorite quotes is "Laughter is not our medicine; stories hold our cure. Laughter is just the honey that sweetens it." from Hannah Gadsby. I believe this is true in all regards. Stories are one of the hardest things to tell, especially those that tackle darker subject matter. Laughter helps us navigate the darkness and emerge protected as we learn.
