My plays cover a breadth of lengths, genres, and styles. I have written lots of plays for 10-minute play competitions, as well as full-length works, but my favourite format is the long 1-act, stuff in the 35 to 55 minute range. I've written both comedies and dramas, for the most part, but I also enjoy writing political satire, "Gay 90's" melodrama (the girl-tied-to-the-railroad-tracks genre), and I'm slowly learning how to write musicals. But I feel that my best plays are my dramas, and others who have seen my plays tend to agree. I've been told that I write female characters well, and most of my plays have majority-female or all-female casts. I also direct plays, and since there always seems to be more women than men who come out to auditions I keep that in mind when I'm writing something new.
