Artistic Statement
My experiences with adoption, cult survival (ages 17-21), and addiction recovery have shaped my voice as a writer. These aren't just biographical details—they're the lens through which I explore identity, belonging, and the lives of people existing on society's margins. I write plays, memoir and fiction that center around underdogs and examine what happens when we fail, restart, or refuse to fit prescribed narratives. Through dark humor, experimental structures and metatheater, my plays ask: Who gets to belong? What systems keep people out? How do we get up after getting knocked down? I create work that celebrates survival without sanitizing it — and my intention and hope is that it challenges audiences to question limiting systems and recognize the power in their own stories. As for the comedies..."make 'em laugh!"
