  • LIGHTS UP!

“Make strong choices” is a staple in the Theater . . . but what happens when obviously wrong choices are being made? That’s the comic premise in Jack Levine’s enjoyable 10-minute play. When egos collide there is plenty of emotional shrapnel exploding about the rehearsal room, but we are humorously reminded of another theatrical truth--emotional honesty will always best bombast.
  • A Dinner With a View
    25 Dec. 2020
Using taut dialogue, April Amara depicts a seismic shift in an engaged couple’s relationship. ‘Happily ever after’ collides head-on with secure ‘practicality.’ In the balance is Alicia and Eric’s future, and I was captivated to see which way the scale would tip . . . all the way to the play’s unsettling conclusion.
  • And It's Cold

Gus and Caroline are generous and sensitive characters who are more than a bit socially inept, which makes them both endearing and relatable. Sarah Rae Brown does excellent work in creating an entertaining comic tension between the two women, that humorously reveals past details, including their joint Trekkie devotion. As unexpected circumstances lead to a make-or-break moment in their relationship, I was invested and pulling for them.
  • All-Star Attitude
    22 Dec. 2020
A seemingly innocuous T-Ball game leads to much darker terrain when a confrontation develops between two fathers, which ultimately leads us to consider parenting philosophy, definitions of success, and toxic masculinity in Evan Baughfman's short dramedy.
  • this is gonna hurt

Ashley Lara's monologue provides an exciting acting challenge for a performer, who must endow a confessional moment with deep, emotional underpinnings as a woman faces how regret, longing, and a forced separation has brought clarity on what she truly values.
  • Tucumcari Tonite!
    6 Dec. 2020
I enjoyed the setting and circumstances where we first meet Alex and Tony. This is an entertaining script with two characters with distinct voices, who incrementally create a meaningful relationship as they overcome their own reticence to reach out to each other. What ultimately results is a personal connection that is satisfying to observe.
  • Taking Sum Lumps
    28 Nov. 2020
This is a fun script that takes a well-known superstition that might live in the realm of personal paranoia when things go bad, and makes the "paying up" for one's allotted bad luck tangible. I had the opportunity to direct Ken's script for our college's online Play Festival, and it was an enjoyable script to interpret from the first paper-cut to its final comic twist.
  • Protocols

I had the pleasure of directing this play for our college's online Fall Play Festival. Vince Gatton's dramatic conflict combines both the familiar and a sci-fi angle in a high-stakes, entertaining interaction between siblings. In performance, we also found the play delivers an emotional wallop as the siblings come to terms with an unsettling reality at the play's conclusion.
  • A Christmas Pickle
    18 Nov. 2020
I had the pleasure of directing this play for our college's online Fall Play Festival. The uncertainty of what is really going on is such fun to explore. The 'cat-and-mouse' dialogue draws us in, as Ellie tries to protect her secret while Claire increasingly pressures her to confirm the hope that her "inner child" so deeply wishes to embrace.
  • The Art of Non-Disclosure
    11 Oct. 2020
This is a play that explores the fears that can grip individuals and prevent them from being open and vulnerable to another. Tom David Barna's script builds a curiosity as we watch and wonder if Rhianna and Paul can break through the inner, unspoken fear of full disclosure that threatens to short-circuit their attempt at beginning a relationship.
