  • Michael Pisaturo: The Swallows

King has painted a gorgeously stark and vivid picture of two women - two authentic, interesting women - in a way that humanizes those who are so often dehumanized.

  • Michael Pisaturo: FAWZIE: A HOTEL CHAMBERMAID MONOLOGUE

A wonderfully engaging monologue whose scope is matched only by its heart. With a refreshing amount of gusto and agency, Fawzie could read the phone book, and I would listen.

  • Michael Pisaturo: The Once and Future Casey Colman

I was IMMEDIATELY sucked into this script. The juxtaposition of supernatural, psychic energy and the grounded, ‘salt of the earth’ community of Crystal Plains, Kansas is just so alluring, and the protagonist has more endearing grit to her than most characters I have read before. Endlessly electric and enigmatic, Casey Colman demands - and deserves - your attention from beginning to end.

  • Michael Pisaturo: Residual Dust

Residual Dust is an absolutely electric play examining the conflict between religious devotion and sexual orientation faced by both a student and her teacher as well as the generational gap that sets them apart. Turnage wastes not a single line of dialogue here as each word is uttered with biting intent, and the fact that these two characters will make you feel so deeply for them while also inevitably challenging your worldview is a testament to her deftness as a writer. Do yourself a favor, and check this one out!

  • Michael Pisaturo: How to Win at Checkers Every Time

It is rare that a ten-minute play covers as much ground and delves quite as deep as "How to Win at Checkers Every Time". In this refreshing take on mental health in the context of a modern-day romance, Foster creates two characters whose relationship is both startlingly authentic and breathtakingly poignant. His command of the written language is matched only by his vulnerability and tact as an artist. For anyone who wishes to know where the future of contemporary theatre lies, look no further. Daring and fun, heartbreaking and hilarious, Checkers is an absolute must-read!
