  • NOLAN (SOME BOY WITH A NECK BRACE): A MONOLOGUE
    17 Oct. 2018
A very hilarious "Today is the day" monologue from Wyndham. Nolan has come to the pivotal moment in every young boy's life where they have to make the decision to do what's best for themselves, to be their own person, and to not just follow the path their parents have laid out for them. As someone who played football when he was younger when I really didn't want to but felt like I had to, this is so relatable. Wyndham really hit the nail on the head in a very fun way with this one.

Masterfully eerie. The ending really got me, it made so much sense and yet it was also so surprising. The language usage in this is also so carefully chosen, it works very well. It would be an absolute delight to hear this piece performed. I want more!

Good stuff. I really enjoy the way this monologue is framed. This is what happens when our reality seeps into make-believe time and it's an incredibly poignant thing. A lot of great moments in here ranging from highly comedic to dramatic.

I was so immersed in this while reading it, I can only begin to imagine what feelings this show elicits when you're actually in the room. For me, this evoked a beautiful feeling and really made me think about our culture and where we are today. This was incredibly intimate and a wonderful experience, even as a read. I really enjoy theatre like this and highly recommend it.

Mark the magician is just like any of us; we all perform for our dogs, we all lonesomely create elaborate scenarios in which we get pummeled by an audience, and we all are terribly frightened by ten-year olds. No, just me? Well, regardless, as zany a play as it is, there is a lot to relate to! Highly recommend checking this show out, especially if you're interested in finding out who Herbert Hoover had a scandalous affair with...

A hilarious play that hits on some truly poignant themes. The characters in this show speak to each other so realistically it's amazing and emotional. Great roles for some talented actors to tackle.

This is such a sincere piece. It's an amazing thing when a writer can make you laugh and cry with their words. This play succeeds in that. Simply put, it's tragically beautiful. This would make a fantastic addition to any play festival looking to make their audience feel something heart-rending.

I love this play, because while for the audience this is a zany and comedic moment between two people mourning, this type of thing is totally a reality. I'm happy to read a play that talks about this part of grief. There is a great mix of emotions in this play, it's got a lot of heart in it, and it would be a fantastic addition to any night of short plays.

I started reading this play, and then realized I saw it done at my university last year. It's a great piece on how technology can change our social interactions. Of course, it's also hilarious. It was definitely an audience favorite that night! Fun roles!
