Walker puts a microscope on the urban scene, particularly on homelessness
The way in which people are reduced to base instinct in our public places is spotlighted well. Adding ecological concerns adds to the poignancy of this short play.
  • MELT
    31 Mar. 2024
Walker reflects the feelings attached to the climate change issue more than the reality.
In so doing she includes generational interaction. Yes a drastic picture emerges but I would call it hyper-realism. This does call attention to the issue.
  • The Penance - 10 Minute Play

Kaminski is an enjoyable crime writer. Excessive bloodshed isn't necessary to make his plots intriguing. His endings are complete turnarounds that will give an audience a jolt.
  • DOUBLEWIDE
    22 Nov. 2023
"Doublewide" has a tone of acceptance but not resignation (think "Our Town") There's a sweetness in this family that denies this play the critical spirit it could reveal. Yes, it is a commentary on the social strata that might keep this family in a double wide regardless of their hard work. But the love and care in the family keeps them from bitterness. The writing is witty and realistic and flowed beautifully.
  • Jan Kultura, Substitute Teacher, Meets The Crowd

I can't say this is the story of an unfortunate substitute teacher because it's too funny.
    And I actually learned something
I don't know whose more ridiculous: the teacher or the students. It doesn't really matter because it's an entertaining romp.

There's a lesson here. Having an experience of something is much different than talking about it. Along those same lines, one might call oneself a helpful, kind person. But can that attitude be extended to others through actions near and far.
  • LESS THAN AN BRIDE, LESS THAN A MOTHER
    27 Oct. 2023
Betrayal can occur in the pregnancy business. Controversy exists and here we can see why. Also impoverished people are often exploited, against all ideas of justice. I like the setting here and much is said in a few words. That's what I call wise writing.
  • AURORA'S MOTIVE
    10 Oct. 2023
It's difficult to conceive a real story that could be more vivid and gripping than this play. The writing was brilliant and the interweaving of themes, motherhood -revolution- women's rights- was fascinating. I hope I can see this play live to further appreciate its passion and depth.
  • the beautiful land i seek (la linda tierra que busco yo)
    10 Oct. 2023
I'm all for justice and this play doesn't disappoint. But this theme is dropped into a veritable banquet of theatrical effects, absurd and humorous touches, and a philosophical acceptance of the way the world is. Regarding the last technique of the artist/writer, I detect something Shakespearian. There's something for everybody here and much education about the beautiful land of Puerto Rico.
  • Verdun
    9 Oct. 2023
This seems to be the plight of a woman in a man's world. But the world is not really a man's and the young soldier finds this out. And she also proves her worth. It's wartime; she treats the wounds, and begins to treat wounds that are even deeper and historic. The shift of perspectives effectively occurs in a "no man's land".
