Karen’s a klutz. After getting into another car accident (on Halloween), her insurance agent gives unusual advice: she should visit a famous astrologer to find out why she’s so accident prone.
Karen’s love life is a mess. She’s attracted to Nick but he bores her to death. After another hook-up, she again breaks up with him and decides to visit the astrologer.
When Richard (the astrologer), tells Karen they are meant to be together, she freaks out. Still, when they run into each other at a forest preserve, their chemistry cannot be denied. Unfortunately, Nick intrudes on this moment.
Meanwhile, Karen’s sister, Laurie can’t seem to catch a break. Her co-worker is plotting against her (she’s not imaging this!) She hates her new job. And she can’t decide on the perfect paint color for her apartment.
Nick charms Karen again at a family gathering, and in a moment of weakness, she agrees to go on another date at a baseball game. Nick proposes at the game and Karen, confused and pressured, agrees to marry him. Richard, sad at losing Karen, decides to join a monastery.
Richard struggles in the monastery but makes friends with the Abbot (a wannabe stand-up comic). Karen struggles to forget Richard as she prepares to marry Nick.
A new Halloween and Nick springs another gimmick on Karen-- to get married as Mr. and Mrs. Frankenstein. Karen finally breaks up with Nick, the same way she became engaged -- on television. Karen runs to find Richard but he has again disappeared.
Costumes on the beach. Richard and Karen run into each other during a Halloween fundraiser. Are they finally ready to meet their destiny? Although their future seems uncertain, during the play’s final moments, Karen decides to “take a plunge” into the icy waters with Richard.

Meyerhold acknowledges "the facts" of the brilliant director's life--how he studied under Stanislavski in the early years of the MAT; rejected realism and opened his own anti-realistic theatre; how the young director became the toast of the 1920-30 theatrical world, only to be killed by Stalin's forces for refusing to compromise his artistic vision. This play also explores Meyerhold's life through the means and aesthetics he made famous. Comic exaggeration, "machines for acting," biomechanical movements, and cubist designs dramatize the inner struggles of a man determined to create a theatre which destroyed existing conventions.
Meyerhold can be performed with a cast of 8 playing multiple roles. Because so much of the director's life and aesthetics consisted of the visual image, the use of projections would be strongly recommended.
While it is suggested that the director become basically familiar with Meyerhold's aesthetics (and biomechanics in particular), recreating the feeling and flavor of biomechanics and stylized movement, and the remarkable period of 1900-1930 Russia seems more important that any exact reproduction.

Based on Mark Twain's imaginative series of diary entries by Adam and Eve, this play follows the first couple and their eventual love. This wonderfully lyrical text offers teenagers or adults the option of a more heightened style of performing. The original production (Sauk Valley College 2000) emphasized movement—both physical comedy but also movement that mirrored the lyricism of the text. To provide more opportunities of student performers, this version has four Adams and four Eves. In the original production, the Eves and Adams were costumed in four different eras: Biblical (fig leaves), Medieval, Victorian, and Future. Other designations to separate the characters could certainly be made. In the original production Adam and Eve interacted with their opposite from each of the eras, not only their own. The original production design included a pond, a woodsy-earthy platform, a moss-bank, and a giant apple tree . This play is very flexible piece for casting and design. Casting choices always include transgender actors or couples of the same gender.
