  • Pauline David-Sax: Brian the Comet

Poetic and beautifully crafted. Tender and hopeful and thoughtful and funny with wonderful parts for young actors.

  • Pauline David-Sax: ACCOMMODATION

Burdick tackles an important topic with a deft blend of realistic and highly theatrical moments. A fast-paced and engrossing play.

  • Pauline David-Sax: THE STORYTELLER

A heartbreaking play about the power of stories and the pain of not knowing. I love the way Accuardi has brought unreliable narration to the stage in such an inventive way.

  • Pauline David-Sax: Banya

A compelling play about what it means to be a stranger and what it takes to have real intimacy. This play has a strong sense of pacing and kept me wondering about the nature of the relationship between the characters up until the final revelatory moments.

  • Pauline David-Sax: WOMEN LAUGHING ALONE WITH SALAD

Funny and biting and inventive. I'd love to see this on stage.

  • Pauline David-Sax: Arbor Falls

I loved the quiet power of this play. The majority of the play is written in two-character scenes which leads to a great feeling of intimacy, whether those characters are long-time lovers or have just met. This play felt timeless and contemporary all at once.

  • Pauline David-Sax: What Are You Worth?

In addition to what other recommenders have praised I wanted to highlight Ms. Corthron's use of language in this play. In the first act in particular she makes deft use of the contrast between comedic banter and deeply heartfelt monologues to drive home her powerful message. I also really enjoyed the invention of futuristic language/messaging in the third act.

  • Pauline David-Sax: Charlie's Waiting

The dialogue in this play crackles with electricity--both in terms of what the characters say and what they omit. Listen to the recording on The Parsnip Ship if you can.

  • Pauline David-Sax: The Mermaids' Parade

I had the pleasure of listening to this play performed on The Parsnip Ship podcast. I highly recommend listening to it. Gina Femia writes dialogue such that each character has a very specific voice, and the actors captured this beautifully. I also love the way Femia's writes stage directions and pays such careful attention to sound/music and staging.
