UNREQUITED dives headfirst into a web of desire and need that really makes this play breathe. It's certainly a breath of fresh air to have a play about love that's more about the people in love than the idea of love itself.

Love is only as complicated as those who are in it. Jake and Alice certainly have their hands full in this regard.

Thank you, Rachel Carnes. Thank you for a piece that does an honor to those that lost their lives in Christchurch back in March. The whole play is contained in 2 pages. The emotion the piece has, however, cannot be.

Take some time to give this a read.

Poignant. I don't any other works that marry love and loss so seamlessly. Aronovitch's command of time in the piece is also to be marveled at, as the past flows into the present almost like the tide. Suddenly, we're out to sea, adrift in memories - in an ocean of loss with our loves.

    A beautiful play.

You know the trope where the crazy old man in town says he was abducted by aliens? Rushing takes that and turns it on its head. Hal has a story to tell and I could listen to him tell it all day. Anyone who says sci-fi doesn't haven't heart hasn't read this or seen it. It's heartfelt and hurts in all the right ways.

I won't give any spoilers. I'll let Mike do that. What I can say is that this piece has a wonderful ensemble and is one which raises some very interesting moral questions... You'll know what I mean when you read. Just as the play tackles morally gray areas, the piece also falls into one itself. It's perfect blend of comedy and drama.

Personally, I'm always on the lookout for characters that feel human and come to life right off the page. THE SCENIC VIEW delivers on that and then some.
