  • Scott Sickles: Fluffy!

OH, ME-OW!!! Feeny-Williams has fashioned an utterly brilliant genre sendup that gets all the details just right. From the character archetypes to the plot elements to the glorious setting, FLUFFY! is a great throwback to classic laboratory horror about experiments gone haywire. The tone and the humor are pitch perfect.

The set is straight out Hammer Films and I hope ambitious theaters embrace the details, not to mention the effects and costumes, even for such a short play. IT WILL BE WORTH IT!

An absolute joy, especially for horror comedy buffs!

  • Scott Sickles: I, Corn Dog

I feel that Mr. Weaverrrr is trying to make me feel bad over my love of a certain German-introduced American delicacy by anthropomorphizing it as a being with a soul that feels fear and agony.

    EPIC FAIL, WEAVER!!!

I will always, Always, ALWAYS revel in how the soft, crunchy, sweet cornbread mingles with the savory, mysterious porcine center, regardless of how skillful, humorous, and utterly entertaining your attempts as culinary propaganda might be!

I dare anyone and everyone to produce this monologue, especially with a life-size corn dog costume! I shall remain unswayed even as I stand and...

  • Scott Sickles: IT'S AN EXPRESSO DRINK WITH FOAMY STEAMED MILK

Sometimes, two minutes with a person is 120 seconds too many. Stella is one of those people. And trust me... you know a Stella!

Her younger brother Stellan seems to be aware that other people matter, at least as memories and concepts. If only Stella hadn’t managed to eclipse both him and the meteor hurtling towards the earth on a path of destruction. The more Stella talks, the faster you wish it would get here.

Stella is a genius creation of comic social commentary and the play is a fast, furious delight!

  • Scott Sickles: Les Abysses

A lot of detail is used to maximum effect here! Lee creates a hostage situation where every word is buying the victim time while making the depth of the kidnapper's needs and delusion clearer and clearer. The victim is no slouch! The winemaker is smart, calm in a crisis, and doing his best to find a way out. The tension steadily rises with each passing phrase. Like the titular vintage, there's a palpable sense of place, complex notes, and a great finish!

  • Scott Sickles: Delete

Oh yes... we’ve all been trapped in this hellscape in one form or another. Floyd-Priskorn not only captures the soul crushing abyss of helplessness when There Is Nothing To Be Done and blends It seamlessly with the double-edged despair of It Was All Your Fault and You Knew What You Were Doing. DELETE is an indictment of our flaws and our frailty in the face of what technology is and is not willing to do. A short, sweet, beautifully agonizing nightmare!

  • Scott Sickles: HOLD

Some of the best absurdism is entrenched in reality. HOLD starts out as a dark comic sendup of incompetent and/or apathetic mental health services but the tension quickly escalates while our protagonist's circumstances become more and more specific as they spiral downward.
Breakneck, breathtaking, heartbreaking, and at times terrifying. Bravo, Carbajal!!!

  • Scott Sickles: Pilates of the Carob Eaten: An Autocorrected Play

It took me longer than ten minutes to get through it because I was cackling so much. CACKLING! A great play to read aloud (even to yourself) because the names are descriptive and it’s easy to keep track of who’s who, even though most of them are named Bill. The autocorrections and textual predicitons are hilarous and Busser uses them expertly to change the direction of the narrative, which is utterly beautifully insane. Casting this would be almost as enteraining as watching it! It’ll be a joy onstage!

  • Scott Sickles: The Fierce Urgency Of Now

Witty, caustic, effervescently bitchy, yet always instilling a pervasive unease...

    BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHT!!!

THE FIERCE URGENCY OF NOW lives up to its title, even when it’s making you wait for the other shoe to drop. DeVita thrusts us (literally) into the middle of the action. Soon, protagonist Kyle embarks on an adventure simply by going to work!
Advertising is notoriously cutthroat and we aren’t always sure who is friend or foe.

The characters are terrific! We love some, love to hate others, and are intrigued by all. They deserve a great story. DeVita gives them one.

  • Scott Sickles: Seal Island

In this beautiful, haunting fantasy, Bray incorporates seaside mythology into a tale of friendship thrown out of balance by evolving emotions. If you've been the third wheel (or even one of the other two), you'll recognize the awkwardness in your bones and the longing in your soul. When belonging finally beckon, it could lead to rescue or ruin!

Great roles for four actors and a challenge imaginitive directors will heartily embrace. It begs to be staged with evocative lighting and movement, but works perfectly on camera. On Seal Island, myth is made manifest however the story is told.

  • Scott Sickles: Five Syllables

What begins as a teeny rom-com tropefest takes a clever turn... then floors it! FIVE SYLLABLES will make you hold your breath before it takes it away. Adorable, funny, and just damn lovely.
