  • The Fierce Urgency Of Now
    7 Mar. 2020
I was reading "The Fierce Urgency of Now" while riding the train into New York, and almost took an unintended ride back to Philly! That's how engrossed I was in this wonderful comedy. Everything about it is pitch perfect from the pace of agency life to the crazy demands of the clients to the relationship between Kyle and Dodo. Reading it put me right back in my days in an advertising agency. And it's funny and incisive to boot. Can't wait to see it on the stage.
  • END OF PLAY.
    5 Mar. 2020
You must remember this: reading talkbacks will always be torture and this is a very funny and extremely well-constructed play. Williams gets it all in: the faux intellectualism, the petty academic rivalries, and the egoism that inhabits these events. The fact that the audience will quickly recognize what is being critiqued just makes all the funny funnier. I am sure this will get lots of productions as time goes by!
  • A Conversation About Mom
    5 Mar. 2020
John Busser has a way of capturing how family members speak to one another, how they know just where to place the truest and must hurtful barbs, and how they let memory get in the way of hearing what’s being said now. Or is he capturing the way we speak to ourselves? In the sweet and insightful play, it hardly matters. Everything rings true.
  • Fable
    29 Feb. 2020
I am an uberfan of "Gypsy" and this play made my heart sing! It was fascinating to see both the development of the musical and the lives of its characters from an entirely new perspective, June's. The writing is lovely, the characters sympathetic even when they are not likeable, and the play sure make its point: it's good to be remembered, even if what's remembered is more fable than truth. Please, somebody! Do this play!!
  • Three Drunk Poets Find God
    26 Feb. 2020
“We must imbibe and quaff in the blood of Jesus.” With an opening line like that you simply must read on! This play is a delight. Full of sweet little twists that keep you wondering where you’re going... until you get there. Three great poets. Three great friends all carefully drawn and sympathetic. Charlie sure has found an inventive way to get inside a poet’s head. Highly recommended!
  • EGG IN SPOON
    19 Nov. 2019
What Rachael Carnes leaves out of "Egg in Spoon" is just as essential - maybe more so - than what she chooses to tell. A microcosm of where the battle over women's reproductive rights is today...and sadly where it might be headed. A really intriguing read. But I think it needs to be seen for its full effect to be realized.
  • Babel

"Maybe if God did a better job, we wouldn't have to play him."
Imagine wanting a baby with your whole heart, and then learning that if she's born, she'll live the life of a prisoner. Constantly limited. Constantly monitored. Always thought of as a "monster." With no escape and no reprieve. What would you decide? That's the question Jacqueline Goldfinger explores in a play that is as beautiful as it is terrifying. An extremely prescient look at science, eugenics, and a world where your DNA is your destiny. Highly recommended!

A stunning play about who owns our identities in a world where everything is always public and available online. I highly recommend it.
  • Goddess Of The Hunt
    17 Oct. 2019
Interesting characters, a twisty plot, and lots of laughs! "Goddess of the Hunt" is an inventive as it gets. Cool Facebook check-ins both set the scene and further the action. Witty dialogue is reminiscent of great comedy caper films like "Charade" or "Arabesque" and screwball comedies like "Palm Beach Weekend". The characters are deftly drawn and would be great fun to play. A wonderful read! I can't wait to see what happens next with this play!
  • "When Lucifer Met Hanuman" or "A Rebirth Play"
    27 Aug. 2019
A terrific play that reminds us that being forgiven also means forgiving oneself. Tyler Joseph Rossi creates a wonderful character in Hanuman who comes to show Lucifer the way to redemption and does it with kindness and humor. The ending is so simple and so marvelous.
