Ross Tedford Kendall is a graduate of USC’s Cinema-Television school (now School of Cinema Arts), and USC’s Master of Professional Writing Program. His full-length play, Still Born, has received staged readings in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. His full-length plays, Whirlpool and Pleasure and Pain, both won honorable mention in the Ohio State Newark New Play Contest. Whirlpool was also a finalist for the 2012-13 Woodward/Newman Drama Award. His short play, Singular of Dice, won the Drury University One Act Festival, 2011, the 4th Annual Frostburg State University One Act Competition, and has been produced in Rhode Island, Missouri, Connecticut and Maryland. When not writing, Ross works at Cal State Northridge’s Oviatt Library, helping professors and students with course specific academic materials.

  • Pleasure and Pain
    Jeremy Holt enlists the services of a young dominatrix to deliver the sexual satisfaction he needs. When his wife Sheila returns unexpectedly, a predicable firestorm erupts. However, when the dominatrix refuses to leave without her gear, the situation escalates and spirals out of control, with the line between sexual pleasure and tormenting pair being repeatedly crossed.

    Whirlpool is inspired in part by the Kobe Bryant rape incident. It is the story of Clementine, a young S&M enthusiast, who comes home one night to find her roommate, Rebecca, claiming to have been raped by NFL superstar, Jason Carter.     Singular of Dice features Garrett, a young reporter, trying to get the story of a lifetime from Noelle, a mysterious woman with a deadly job. Noelle turns the tables on him, trapping him in a sadistic game for her own amusement. Garrett treads a fine line between getting Noelle to open up while trying desperately to avoid “disappearing.”
  • Gambit
    A seemingly innocent game of chess symbolizes the battlefield between Clementine, a brilliant law student, and her aunt Jill, a powerful U.S. attorney. Clementine faces dismissal for causing an incident at her school, but refuses to reveal her side of the story to Jill. As the pieces clash on the board, family secrets are brought up, ghosts of the past are revealed, challenging their complex familial relationship.
