  • Annie Considine: How About Them Dodgers

I saw this as a reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and was swept up in its relevance and humor. The dynamic between Marie, Mickey, and Officer Seth struck a great balance between upbeat transactional chatter and underlying absurdity. Philip Middleton Williams has done a lovely job creating a satirical military state not too far from the contemporary world (and idea of a drag Ron deSantis "Governess of Florida" really sent me). Great play!

  • Annie Considine: The Logs

I saw this piece as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and was moved by its educational, gender-affirming qualities. It was a beautiful example of how to talk to teens about gender and transitioning and I loved the dynamic between the character's younger and older selves. Really great idea.

  • Annie Considine: Geminids

I saw this as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and loved the dynamic between the two women. The release that Lorelei felt against the backdrop of a starry sky was set beautifully and so relatable. I wished it could have gone on! Loved this.

  • Annie Considine: I Will Tell the Bees

I loved this piece at the Midwest Dramatists Conference, and the metaphor of bees being messengers to the next world really helped take me on a journey. I loved the dynamic between the two women and how much they could talk about. Really lovely!

  • Annie Considine: Esto También Pasará

A heart-wrenching look into domestic violence from the perspective of children. I saw this at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and found it a chilling piece that stayed with me. The dialogue switches between Spanish and English were masterful (I don't speak Spanish and I believe I understood almost every word), and the helpless attempts of the sister to protect her brother from the violence were heartbreakingly crafted. The battleship metaphor beneath everything was a great touch. Loved this.

  • Annie Considine: The Waiting Room

I saw this as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference thoroughly enjoyed the dynamic between comedic, talks-to-process-emotions Natalie and reserved Katherine. Alli Hartley-Kong employs great skills in dialogue writing to keep this play moving at an entertaining, fun pace. Loved watching their relationship grow.

  • Annie Considine: The Drums

I saw this as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and loved the levity that Katherine Vondy has infused into a frightening contemporary premise - an app that reveals what's in your soul. Vondy has done a great job of infusing this comedy with disquieting moments, along with brilliant characters that juxtapose the disquiet with upbeat, professional chatter. Loved it!

  • Annie Considine: My Piano Doesn't Like Me

I saw this play as a staged reading at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and was delighted at the surprise entrance of the Piano as a character. The dialogue was hilarious and made for a short, fun, lovely piece.

  • Annie Considine: The Last Man on Earth

I saw this piece read at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and was delighted at the premise of a virus that drove men to destroy civilization, spurring the conundrum of trying to figure out if Tyson is infected or just a delusional man-child who stalks a woman endlessly. A fun, stays-with-you apocalyptic satire.

  • Annie Considine: A CUPBOARD FULL OF COFFEE CUPS

I saw this piece read at the Midwest Dramatists Conference and loved the relationship dynamics Bridget Grace Sheaff built between Donna and Michael. The act of trying to fix a kitten mug as a metaphor for trying to mend a relationship was touchingly crafted, and the dialogue allowed for moments of levity during a heartache-washed story. Loved it.
