A provocative, compelling drama that introduces us to well-drawn, believable characters we won't soon forget. Sharp, economical dialogue draws us in, a startling plot development abruptly turns the world upside down, and soon we're hoping for an outcome that may or may not be possible.
  • The Veils

Villanueva is a subtle writer whose play is that much more effective for shunning histrionics. Beautifully structured, "The Veils" benefits from her skilled craftsmanship. We get to know these characters and their secrets a layer at a time, and the story builds momentum as it progresses. The family dynamics will resonate with audiences. The author knows her stagecraft, and has fashioned a work that can be staged simply or more elaborately, as circumstances may dictate.

A touching and original piece depicting human relationships that were intimate in surprising and unexpected ways. Alterman writes movingly about the connections we make with others, and inspires us to think more openly and less judgmentally about the people we meet in our daily lives.

On the surface, Arnie and Kyle would seem to have nothing in common beyond their shared bloodline. But this uncle and nephew have an unexpected bond that may survive what happened since they went their separate ways. An emotionally affecting play about regrets, redemption, and the opportunity to see someone we think we already know in a new way.

  • Expectant Pause
    19 Jul. 2015
A charming comedy about a slightly crazed couple coming to terms with impending parenthood. Playwright Tess Light's characters are sharply observed, more than a little nuts, and oddly endearing. Terrific, full-bodied roles that will come alive in the hands of good actors.
  • Disconnections
    17 Jul. 2015
What would we say to our loved ones in the last few minutes of our lives? This short play asks that question movingly, making an impact all out of proportion to its brevity. Lovely and sad.
