  • The Macbethest Christmas Pageant Spectaculathon...Ever!
    21 Jun. 2022
Some people like a Christmas story.
Some people like a Shakespeare parody.
Some people like a bawdy romp.
The Macbethest Christmas Pageant Spectaculathon… Ever! is for those who’d like all three blended up into a Christmas porridge of transcendent silliness. Laugh out loud, but not for the kids.
  • The Poet, The Spy, and the Dark Lady
    21 Jun. 2022
A polished, multilayered, and delightful reimagining which has Shakespeare, Kit Marlowe and The Dark Lady as a polyamorous throuple in London. Political intrigue, conflicting agendas, and forces beyond their control act upon the three loving people who just want to be together and create. McClain deftly shifts between intrigue, comedy, and romance with a great eye for detail, an ear for dialogue that is period-seeming but not contrived-sounding, and an assured sense of pace and tone.
  • If nobody does remarkable things
    21 Jun. 2022
The story of a former high-profile climate activist now dealing with a deteriorating environment who has to decide whether to take up the fight again with someone who betrayed her trust. Or else stay on the sidelines, in the comfort of a loving family? Shades of Amy Berryman’s Walden in tone and theme, but with its own unique well-drawn world and indelible characters.
  • POLE POSITION
    15 Feb. 2022
How to describe this one? It's a fun play about a teacher who has something to say about his high school student's personal life, but it becomes clear his concern isn't quite as altruistic as it first seems. A knotty (and naughty) 10 minute two hander which thrives in exploring an uncomfortable conversation.

An intriguingly drawn character piece about women trying to grasp their purpose in life amidst a strange situation made stranger by the arrival of someone who does not fit their conception of life. A master class in world building.
  • Shrike: a Legion Cycle play
    11 Feb. 2022
A smart and expansive sci fi war epic with impeccable world building and a vivid cast of characters. Lerch writes with both epic scope and an eye for detail making each character distinctly human. Or alien, as the case may be.

This 10 minute play uses a sci-fi concept as an exploration of grief and healing. It's straight fire and everything I want in a sci-fi stage piece.
  • The Other Side
    20 Jan. 2022
This is a script that stays with you, presents a complicated situation and no easy way out. A twisty plot to go with its tough questioning.
  • Static Space
    22 Oct. 2021
Two characters separated by many miles of atmosphere make an unlikely connection while one whizzes overhead of the other very earthbound one. Black-Spence illustrates the two main characters burgeoning friendship and romance with care and an ear for wonderful dialogue. A sweet tale of isolation and connection, loss and new beginnings.
  • For Real
    17 Feb. 2021
A striking ten-minute play about nurses nervous about working with Covid cases for the first time in March 2020. The uncertainty and dread of the onset of the pandemic is clearly rendered through these warm, sympathetic characters. Even more poignant now when reading this in 2021 as we know what future's in store for these characters.
