  • Jordan Bird: Marks of Birth

THIS PLAY IS PERFECT. I laughed. I cried. I laughed again. Lorraine and Sasha's relationship is so real, so immediate, and so honest. Their love for one another is so tangible it hurts, especially in their moments of anger with one another. The time capsule is a bit of a genius moment: it works theatrically as well as metaphorically. If you're looking for an exemplary one-act, look no further.

  • Jordan Bird: Letter to my Brother

A beautiful short play by Franky Gonzalez that reveals just how deeply the river of love flows between siblings. Gonzalez has done incredible work to capture the rhythm of boxing with his words. This was be a gorgeous addition to a festival of short plays; the boxer would be a rich role for an actor/ess to dig into.

  • Jordan Bird: Lindsey's Oyster

This play perfectly captures being sixteen, being a young woman: all of its excitement, horror, lust, fear, and confusion. This is the world of a teenage girl's body -- a battleground of others' expectations, ridicule, and intentions, both good and bad.

  • Jordan Bird: Alligators

"The world's a small circle drawn around us." I love every little thing about this play: the self-made traps these women find themselves in, the generational curses, the missing things, the secrets and the stories hiding in the very walls.

  • Jordan Bird: Bones Like Dust

"I didn't know that living and surviving were two different things, but they were."

This play is haunting, moving, and gorgeous. I had major shivers at the end. Femia's poetry and rhythms get lodged inside your head and work away at you.

  • Jordan Bird: At the Breakaway

WOW. This play is a stunner, from beginning to end. It feels like the horror grandchild of Firefly in the very best possible way. AT THE BREAKAWAY had me guessing from beginning to end -- and while it's a successful scifi thriller set in the future, the heart of this play asks deep questions that are immediate to our moment in time... questions about armament, about military, about the choices governments give to individuals, and the cost of those choices. Beautiful, haunting, thrilling.

  • Jordan Bird: FUMBLEWINTER

Hilarious, imaginative, weird, and wonderful -- FUMBLEWINTER is a must-read for anyone who has ever tried to run a meeting in corporate American; this play gave me some serious, nightmarish flashbacks. Great fun for designers and audiences alike. I can't wait to see this at the Inge festival!

  • Jordan Bird: Pumpkin

Absolutely perfect: equal parts hysterical and horrifying, like living in a really funny nightmare. Terrific satire of the political climate of bickering, nonsense-talk, and straw-manning. And there are just so many quotable lines. PUMPKIN should be a part of every political short play festival -- the audience will be in hysterics during the performance, and deep in discussion afterwards.

  • Jordan Bird: Strange Aeons and Free Hot Dogs - A Short Lovecraftian Comedy

"His platform includes a gnawing, undying, eldritch sense of dread..." This short horror comedy is the perfect non-partisan political satire. Hilarious, quick-witted, and fun, STRANGE AEONS AND FREE HOT DOGS would be a great addition to an evening of short horror plays.

  • Jordan Bird: Prince Nice Guy

A delightful repurposing of some classic prince/princess tales, told through a feminist lens. Fun, lively, and begging to be included in a festival of short plays.
