  • INSERT TOKEN

A quick-witted, thought-provoking piece about consumption and connectivity. A funny set-up with a sharp, dangerous edge, INSERT TOKEN is original and exciting.
  • FATIMA & MAAMA: A Ten-Minute TFY Play
    5 Nov. 2017
The depth of the love between Fatima and her Maama is palpable in this lovely short play. The roles would be a dream come true for two young Arab-American actresses -- Fatima and Maama are complex, funny, and exuberant.

This play is so deeply troubling and haunting. Derman taps into our collective fears in such a visceral, unflinchingly brutal way, and addresses the ridiculous ways that our culture tries to "deal" with violence and sexual assault against women.

REDEEMER MINE is spooky, heartbreaking, and beautiful. It gave me shivers from beginning to end -- I hope one day I have the pleasure to see it on stage.

Deeply chilling, beautiful, and unnerving. I had shivers upon shivers reading it; it would be a blast to see this piece in production.

Outstanding and creepy. This play gave me plenty of goosebumps; it would be killer to see it onstage. Every time I thought I had it figured out, the plot took another twist and left me wanting more. Really excellent!

A deceptively-simple piece that begs closer inspection: on the surface, it is a simple story about strangers making a connection, but it asks subtle questions about art, love, and risk. A highly enjoyable and nuanced short play.
