Emma Grace Imes

Emma Grace Imes is a Lexington Kentucky based theater artist and early career playwright. Her most recent play Paradoxical Contact was performed as a virtual reading sponsored by the Dramatist Guild Footlights Program. She holds a B.A in Theatre from the University of Kentucky where she focused on playwriting and performance. On the mainstage her ten minute play, How/Why My Sock Monkey Became Real, was selected to be produced as a part of the college's New Works Now 2018 program. Her short play Pink Hair Curse was also produced at the University. Her other short play Crayonhead had a reading at the University of Kentucky then was produced virtually by the Bluegrass Community and Technical College Theatre. She has recently found a knack for live streaming.

Into the Gut

Synopsis

Lottie, grapples with a possible career change that would take her away from her Appalachian
home. Meanwhile, an ancient beast awakes from the ground. It’s hungry. Lottie jumps into it's
mouth. Inside the monster, we are thrust into a fantastical world filled with characters that make
Lottie face her fears and weaknesses so she can save her mountain home from the beast that
swallowed her.

How/Why My Sock Monkey Became Real

Synopsis

CW- This play is intended for adults and includes themes regarding Child Sexual Abuse.

In this play, when toys are loved enough they become real. Now that Socks, the sock monkey, has become real, his best friend Molly is tasked with helping Socks deal with the horrible things they saw before they came to life.

Paradoxical Contact

Synopsis

A broken improv troupe and an alien culture enthusiast walk into a SETI research campus and are tasked with creating a new “creative” message to send out to a potential alien neighbor. Communications between them on Earth fall apart. Old wounds are torn open all while the lonely dark sky looms overhead. Is there a solution to the Fermi Paradox? Where are all the aliens? Are we alone?

Ever since the big break up June hasn’t done much except watch cartoons and … one risky side job. After examining how her life has gone down hill she is now certain that she’s done something horrible to herself. In an attempt to undo this damage she goes to the only psychiatrist she knows she can trust, Kelly Rose. Where she tries to convince Dr.Rose that she is reverse “flowers-for-Algernoning” and needs...
