Heesun Hwang (she/her) is a queer, Korean-American writer and actor from a flight of Midwestern states: South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. Hwang has been called, “the most American, Korean-American” by her fellow Korean-American peers. She remains unsure how to feel about that.
As a writer, she has been a named a semi-finalist for the Van Lier New Voices Fellowship and the O'Neill New Play Conference; she was a finalist with the Bay Street Theatre: Title Wave New Voices in 2025; under commission by YES Theatre Sudbury; a 2021 member of the inaugural New Voices group and a two time Pass the Pen nominee with Ashland New Plays Festival.
