  • Benji Carr: The Dark

Holy crap, this is an amazing piece of theater. It's technically daring, emotionally compelling and more than delivers on the promise of its title. It evoked memories of being the mocked, teased sibling, the one who just wants to be popular and fit in. And then ... it becomes something else entirely. I was shocked and always entertained. I loved this.

  • Benji Carr: A small breach in protocol at Big Rick's Rockin' Skydive Academy

This brilliant play, which I saw twice at the 2019 Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Play Festival, explores the gamut of emotions experienced by four characters on a tandem skydive. Each character reacts with varying levels of dread and exhilaration, based upon what they know and how they approach life. The characters, because of the sensory deprivation provided by the situation, are together yet alone. And there is a profound emotional impact at the core of this play. It is also completely hilarious. Hirsch is excellent at hooking his audience with laughter, then hitting them with existential...

  • Benji Carr: Winner

This play, seen at OOB Fest, was fantastic. The playwright's insights into the creative process and how to react to naysayers cut me to my core. And the conclusions it reaches - as the conversation culminates and as the heroine triumphs on several levels - are profound.

  • Benji Carr: There's Room On Top

The payoff at the end is fantastic. The premise is hilarious. It works well as an outsider's tale trying to gain perspective and sensitivity toward an unfamiliar culture.
