Dr. Daphnie Sicre is an assistant professor in the Theatre Arts program at Loyola Marymount University where she teaches directing, and theatre for social justice. Dr. Daphnie Sicre is an assistant professor in the Theatre Arts program at Loyola Marymount University where she teaches directing, and theatre for social justice. Previously, she taught Solo Performance, Latin American Theatre, Latinx Theatre and Arts and Social Justice at Marymount Manhattan College. Focusing on Afro-Latinx performance, she completed her Ph.D. at NYU in Educational Theatre in 2017. Before that, she received her M.A. in Educational Theatre also from NYU, an M.A. in The Teaching of Social Studies from Columbia University, and holds a B.A. from Lehigh University. When she is not teaching, writing, you can find her conducting workshops in Hip Hop Theatre & Theatre of the Oppressed. Last year, she directed Jose Casas’s “14”which dealt with US-Mexican boarder policies. Dr. Sicre is very interested in using theatre to promote social change and bring conversations on hard topics. She is always looking for new works, collaborations and ways to diversify theatre.

When she isn’t doing this work, she writes plays.
