  • Mike Byham: Big Date

John Busser crafts a fun short in BIG DATE. This would be a blast to see staged with plenty of visual humor to go along with the giant-sized dad jokes being thrown about like rice at a wedding. I can see this concept and storyline being made into a full-production musical to great effect! Well done!

  • Mike Byham: A Higher Power

Chris - what a good time (yes Chris - just read it)! Although the former altar boy in me should be bothered, there's just too much silly fun to worry about blasphemy. I started laughing at the outset and it just kept getting funnier. Cheech and Chong meets Mel Brooks meets Monty Python. Brilliant!

  • Mike Byham: Voyage To Nowhere

This is a short play that produces an outsized emotional impact. A familiar setting, but under uncomfortable circumstances thanks to the secret of Tate's life situation. Jaxson Mackling has crafted a two-hander in VOYAGE TO NOWHERE that excels in telling a larger story than inferred by the number of pages. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Midler on the Roof

I'll never see or hear Bette Midler again without conjuring up the mental image of her on a roof throwing shoes at police. John Busser brings the funny in a totally off-beat short that I would absolutely love to see staged! Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Fragile Minds

A combination of classic drawing-room comedy and British farce, Rachel Feeny-Williams crafts a very funny piece in FRAGILE MINDS that is fueled by the circumstances only family disfunction can provide. The play leads you through some interesting family dynamics down a long and winding road exploring what it means to love and be loved by nuclear family - as well as those you choose to include. A few twists and turns bring us to a satisfying conclusion where happiness is based on building honest and open relationships. This sweet play has something for everyone. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: Psychic Sidekick

I had the pleasure of seeing this fun comedy staged in June. Lori Coughlin has crafted a crowd pleaser with heart. The characters are distinct and memorable, even as they are familiar to anyone who has spent any time at all in NYC. The ending is just perfect - giving the audience what they want even as our leading lady learns to adjust her dreams to a new and perhaps even better reality. Bravo!

  • Mike Byham: The Midnight Marauder!

Shazam! I'm a big fan of the style used in the telling of this story. It's hectic, bizarre and witty. Love the characters and would absolutely love to see a full-length version of this story. I don't want to give away the nice little smile at the end, but it is the cherry on the top of a reading delight. Well done!

  • Mike Byham: HUMAN REMAINS

Laughing from line one this comedy grabs you and never lets you go. There is so much wit and physical fun are packed into this short play. Melissa Milich has crafted a 10-minute winner!

  • Mike Byham: Melt

Well ... still processing. And that's a good thing. I love dark and funny and this play is full of dark and seemingly sincere - until you're in on the punchline when it becomes dark and funny. Very well done. I'd love to see this staged. Not sure I'll ever look at ice cream the same though. Bravo!

  • Mike Byham: That Must Be the Entrance to Heaven or, The Dawn Behind the Black Hole

Emotional, poetic, vibrant and visceral, Franky D. Gonzalez creates a world where prize-fighting imitates the struggles of first-generation immigrants. The prize that each of the four boxers is fighting for proves elusive as the inescapable black hole awaits them, You care for these characters - rooting for each of them to somehow find a way to reach the championship belt - even while knowing it is impossible for all of them to do so. Compelling and powerful work. Bravo!
