  • Elle Meerovich: Time in a Bottle

This is a really good play! Funny, but with moments of conflict that feel very real. Hillary Bluestein-Lyons takes a philosophical (yet never dusty) look at our needs for comfort and stability vs our needs for change and excitement. If you could bottle time, this play let’s you know that it would definitely grow stale.

  • Elle Meerovich: Last Night, First Time

Debra Cole crafts a mother-daughter relationship so healthy, it should become the new gold standard. Funny, sweet, and for me at least, nostalgic for a time where you could sit at your kitchen table and try to pour your heart out to your mom. Let’s hope Arby keeps that practical head as she ventures into college!

  • Elle Meerovich: A New Day

Any workplace comedy about abstract concepts will have my attention, but it’s Rachel Feeny-Williams’ fantastic dialogue and characterizations that made me a fan. This is a fun, clever, and touching look at the forces that make our world spin ‘round. Put it in your next short play festival!

  • Elle Meerovich: Plague Play

A perfect play for those who want to look at the religion and traditions of their childhood with a more analytical eye. The painfully human characters interact with beautiful, loving dialogue, as the quartet tries to care for each other while the world around them falls apart. Made me examine the stories of my youth with more empathy than I may have before.
