  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Marie Antionette and the Magical Negros

I happened upon this play and it sounded interesting. Wow! "Interesting" doesn't cover it. Terry Guest mashes up current American racial battles with the French Revolution and shows us through dark comedy and poignant insight that history is happening now. Great show! I would love to see it!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Whatever I Want (a ten minute play)

Sometimes people plan their own funerals after a prolonged illness, but they don't always have the enthusiasm and imagination of a teenaged girl who wants to throw the best party yet. Mark Harvey Levine's twist on the planning of one's funeral is both poignant and funny -- something that tugs on your heart, but also makes you smile. I love these characters and their promise to continue on past the party, to see each other again in whatever way possible: in the rattling of chains, or welcoming home. Beautiful, funny, and perfect.

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: A DAY OF PROMISE

This play brought tears to my eyes and made my chest ache. The way Smith captures possibility and makes it disappear in a dark flash of history brings back a flood of feeling from the historic day represented here, and fills you with wonder about what could be if love always could win — a simple question with massive implications. Beautiful.

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Broken (10 minute play)

Kevin Delin’s political morality play strikes at politicians and their betrayal of their constituents. While revenge in this case is poetic justice, one may wonder if Delin’s play will prove to be prophetic. It would be great to see on stage, especially in states where it could have the deepest impact. This is the kind of play that could challenge hearts and minds in just the right ways. Well done!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: The Battle of Wills (10 Minute Play)

I saw a production of The Battle of Wills on Youtube, and it's hilarious! William Shakespeare and William Shatner battle each other (verbally and with foam swords) over who is the better Will. Naturally, I favor Shakespeare, but Shatner is hilarious in his attempts to take on the Bard. This is a mash up for the ages! Very funny!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: What to Expect When You're Expecting Our Lord and Savior

I saw Bailey Jordan Garcia's play when This Moment Productions put it on Youtube. I found the reversals of religious tropes very funny. The relationship between the two men is clearly fraught, and it makes you wonder if "faithfulness" has always been an issue between the two of them. With the implication that one of them is medicated for mental illness and the other is running around on him, it might, indeed, take a miracle for this relationship to work. Funny and sad all at once.

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Above the Fold

I was lucky enough to hear a reading of Above the Fold with the Indiana Playwrights Circle. Julie Zaffarano captures the spirit and feel of the 1930s with her sharp dialogue and relentless pace. The historical nature of the piece gives it depth, but what I really like about the play is the commentary it makes on the news business and the ethical murkiness within it. The characters have high stakes, and you hang on every line. I'd love to see this on stage. Bravo!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Offboarding

Having been through an exit interview in a hostile work environment, I was completely won over by Peter Dakutis's hilarious commentary on corporate villainy. I laughed loudly several times. When the HR rep returns Bobble's soul to him, I wanted to roll on the floor. That was perhaps the funniest thing I've ever read about corporate America. I would LOVE to see this play, and I want everyone I know to read/see it. That's how much I love it. BRAVO!!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Family Justice: A Ten-Minute Play

My children are four years apart, just like the kids in Family Justice, so not only did I relate to the good cop/bad cop parents, I also felt like I completely knew the children, too. This is a hilarious spoof on disciplining younger children! There's so much that actors can do with this incredibly funny script! I'd love to see it staged!

  • Marcia Eppich-Harris: Lack of Moisture

Lack of Moisture is both subtle and stunning as it unfolds the layers of a married couple's relationship. Initially, you wonder what the heck is wrong with the husband, but as it becomes clear that he is heartbroken and disillusioned, we start to empathize with his immobility. There's a lot for the actors to work with in these two characters, and I love that it uses the crossword puzzle to put the pieces of their relationship together. It's clever and insightful! Great play!!
