  • if all that You take from this is courage, then I've no regrets

A dynamically sonic play packing a serious emotional punch. The familial relationships are powerfully evocative -- we feel dropped into the boiling water throughout this script and Pilapil doesn't let up for a moment. I can't wait to see this onstage one day!

This is not a play you'll ever forget reading or seeing performed. It's a dream world for actors to dip into and the care taken with which each character's humanity makes this play truly stand out in the horror genre. The comedy is precise and whip-smart and the tender moments confronting shame and rebelling against it are so successful. Jan knows how to make a world full of expansive rules and break them all in the same breath.

This is not your average reunion play. Ford navigates all of the games of pretend lurking around longterm friendships with biting wit and moments of true tenderness and expertly placed diversions from reality as manifestations of panic / anxiety attacks. The impending hurricane serves to catapult the characters into a storm of their own making -- and what better time and place to bare your soul than after you've been "iced" and survived the first few hours of your 25th birthday. I can't wait to see this play onstage and am excited to keep reading more from Ford!

This play is filled with fantastical moments that build to a sweeping crescendo. A collection of all the best bits and the human ones that get caught up on the way. I love reading Rincon’s work!

Hilarious & frightening look at the conviction that comes from embedded familial manipulation.

Being thrust into the throes of specific crisis as a young womxn is a strange mix of nostalgic and heartbreaking. I was quick to tears through this beautiful depiction of of a formative experience about young trust. The grounded nature of this playwright's work is complimented by the delicate bouts of whimsy that are woven through. Excellent roles for womxn and absolutely excited to keep reading Shara's plays!
