The stakes are high. The air is tense. I barely breathed while reading it. The poignancy of the piece comes from what isn't said. An honest review of toxic masculinity. It's sobering and intense. This piece should be done everywhere!

I love it when the best of humanity comes out in a play - just two humans connecting and empathizing. What a beautifully vulnerable piece. It renews my hope that people everywhere do care for one another even when life and death is being delivered in a truck that is run by online orders. Puts a smile on my face.
  • THIRTY DAYS HATH SEPTEMBER - a monologue

Heartbreakingly accurate to what was 2020 and 2021. This is a formative time for our students. Beautifully written and a great monologue for a student who wishes to express their frustration.

  • WHEN THE EARTH MOVES, WE DANCE

Riveting! Epic! Amazing! And that's an understatement. Reading it was invigorating because it kept me going. It gave me life in new ways. I was propelled along with the poetry, comedy, sincerity, and poignant dialogue that Nelson is just so perfect at bringing to the table. As a fellow Puerto Rican, it made me laugh and cry and I felt my insides boil over. I cannot emphasize how much I loved it. The visual elements of this piece alone are a director's, light designers', and scene designers' dream. The dialogue is rich for exploration and will have actors salivating.
  • MAKE IT KNOWN - Monologue
    8 Feb. 2021
Speckman has contributed her footprint to The 365 Women a Year: A Playwriting Project's "Women in Theatre" Monologue Collection. This project is wonderful and Ms. Speckman has given us a view into the importance of why we need to know who all of these amazing women are! Elizabeth Wong would be proud! Make it known loud and proud! This piece is perfect for a high school student looking to step into the light with a thought-provoking and fun monologue.

What a twist! Be careful who you trust! This ten-minute piece is a fun one for those wanting to spike a punchline. Twistedly wrong in all the right ways.

As a Puerto Rican female, I appreciate this historic and cultural take on a time and place. A lovely piece on choosing life and choosing to move at a time when fear paralyzes.
