  • Richter builds a world that may feel uncomfortably realistic, but with a good enough fight, it isn't inevitable. The dialogue is astute and shows great attention to detail. This play needs to be seen and heeded as a warning (or used as motivation to fight for change!). Wonderful work!

  • A fantastic and unique spin on two classic characters! Soucy took the opportunity to humanize and add more layers to our 'villain' and his sidekick, and did an excellent job. Equal parts comedic and harrowing, this play leaves a lot to think about. Well done!

  • What a beautiful and cohesive pair of monologues! Insightful, touching, and also comforting, McVay found a way to capture 14 years life into just 4 pages. Excellent work!

  • This play navigates the difficult journey of step-parenthood in a delicate, but still humorous, way. Solomonson really captured the intricacies of all of the different family dynamics going on in this piece, to the extent where even the father, who is only mentioned and has no lines of dialogue, felt like a character on his own. I also really enjoyed how the piece was empathetic to all points of view regarding the subject of sex education. Beautiful play!

  • What a well-crafted play! It was fun and heartfelt, truly took me on an emotional journey. The connection and history between the three women is very palpable and the separate dynamics going on between them were entertaining. Fantastic work!

  • Alex Jay: Chestburster (a monologue)

'Chestburster' is such a lovely monologue! This expression of queer joy and love is much needed during times like this. Even though the monologue is from the PoV of Sydney, I found myself emotionally invested in the whole family and wanted to know more about them.

I'm sure if I showed this to my mom and her partner, they would absolutely love it. Well done!

  • Alex Jay: Secrets

The connection between Rory and Lola is so deep and moving, you can feel the love radiating from the pages. There were many lines that made me smile, including and especially "There’s nothing a little glue can’t fix, huh? A little glue and a little love."

In addition to being heartfelt, this piece has funny and lighthearted moments as well. Lovely work!

Dreamy, poetic, and unexpectedly comforting, this is a beautifully written piece that says so much in so little pages. Great work!

  • Alex Jay: The Scottish Playground

Hilarious and witty, this play was a joy to read. Marsh perfectly captured the tension and urgency of opening night and approaches it in a light-hearted and fun way. Well done!

The magical realism in this play is really well done and the characters are hilarious and entertaining. Funny, while also insightful, Hakvaag has created a wonderfully inspired short play!
