  • THE IMPORTANCE
    14 Feb. 2023
This is one of my favorite plays I have read in an incredibly long time. Everyone (educator or not) needs to read this script and help high schoolers find solace in Accuardi's words.
  • The Most Epic Awesomest Superhero Movie Ever
    21 Aug. 2022
I saw a reading of this piece at ThinkTankTYA in Tampa and was incredibly blown away by its ability to weave conversations of morality and who gets to be the hero into such a hilarious script. Matt Henderson truly knows how to write intriguing and unique meta and the stage descriptions alone will leave you in stitches (likely from all the superhero fights).
  • YEAR of THIRTEEN MOONS
    14 Jul. 2021
I had the privilege of seeing Shames' YEAR OF THIRTEEN MOONS at the 2021 ThinkTank TYA Playwrights Festival and this play shook me to my core. The characters speak with such wit, such power, and such sincerity, even when the situation is difficult. The result is a play that has you leaning in the entire time, waiting with bated breath for what the next line will be. To all producers looking for a timely, spellbinding show that will take you to the stars, YEAR OF THIRTEEN MOONS is IT!
  • Goddess Of The Hunt
    29 Dec. 2020
If you're looking for a play that has that classic Doug DeVita wit, intriguing characters, biting dialogue, and the perfect blend of 21st century romance and murder, Goddess Of The Hunt is the one. Everything about this script is well thought-out while still being unexpected for the reader. I especially love the social media elements which never detract from the actors but make their decisions all the more engaging. I won't spoil anything but producers should most definitely get this piece off the page and onto the stage.
  • Clasp
    17 Dec. 2020
Wow. What a brutally touching play that speaks to this current moment. Even abstracted from 2020, this play can be about anything we crave but are denied due to forces beyond our control. Any theaters looking for outdoor stagings need to pay attention to Toby Malone and what this piece has to say. Amazing work.
  • A Short Visual Aid of Life in America During the Year of Our Lord, 2020
    16 Dec. 2020
A helpful analogy for sure, Prillaman's power with absurdism comes out swinging in this two-minute baseball play. Packed with quips, Prillaman puts the weight of the game on his main character's shoulders. But what if those shoulders can't be prepared for everything? Prillaman's play dives into this question but leaves it up to us to figure out the answers.
  • Sparrowfall
    16 Dec. 2020
SPARROWFALL is perfectly sparse, allowing lines of poetic magnitude to float across the stage and reach the audience with full velocity. The characters speak of love, the trials and tribulations as well as the moments of pure elation. Thank you for gracing us with this piece.
  • Concerto For Organ In B-Sharp
    13 Dec. 2020
Wang's wit is dark as can be in this send-up of our health care system. Every punchline is expertly timed and the characters, while absurd, have just the right amount of truth in them. Highly recommend you check out this piece and everything else Wang has to offer as I will be doing.
  • The Fig Tree
    12 Dec. 2020
In the course of one conversation, we learn so much about this father and daughter through what they don't say, a talent Esmaeili uses consistently and expertly. The pauses in this piece hurt just as much, if not more, than the actual words. With themes of sacrifice and familial love, The Fig Tree shows us how some things need time to ripen before they're ready to be picked.
  • CHRISTMAS IS ALL YOU WANT IT TO BE
    11 Dec. 2020
This monologue is as charming, hilarious, and still as powerful as could be. We often want to do things for others during this time of the year, but what happens when that altruism winds up putting you in the hospital? Jack Levine's monologue skills blend humor with the tragedy of being separated for the holidays, a feeling we know all too well right now.
