  • Alice Josephs: The Best Woman

In the room - or TV studio - where it happens, this is a classic slick political drama. Full of twists, turns with smart repartee and memorable characters (and a satisfying gender flipped nod to an iconic 1960s’ movie), this was a great read and appetising taster of its stage potential!

  • Alice Josephs: An Educated Guess

This script was a game of two halves. But even though I found the second half a bit uneven, this play has an overall haunting intensity and wit. Female bureaucrats who have survived the immigration process hold the fort while newly arrived men and women float or drown as they seek their green card. Through the eyes of a Hispanic employee, this play explores wIth both seriousness and wry humour the unstable nature of decision making in and self image of a country shaped by layers of immigrants.

  • Alice Josephs: Seven Bananas

A clear eyed, perceptive and witty piece as a daughter struggles to retrieve her parents’ life for them when health problems overwhelm their lives. The play holds its momentum with clever timing and ironic humour, despite the ending feeling a little rushed. Above all the decisions of flawed yet sympathetic characters provoke believable situations exploring ‘issues’ as all too human uncompromising real life dilemmas. A tough but ultimately rewarding play.

  • Alice Josephs: Jan Kultura, Substitute Teacher, Meets The Crowd

An eccentric European substitute teacher is pitted against a siren ad executive and avatar-obsessed students in this characterful and absorbing piece of theatre. A quirky, absurdist, rewarding dramatic analysis of the crowd-sourced-based feudal order threatening to exploit the classroom and high school hearts and minds.

  • Alice Josephs: DON'T VOTE FOR ME

Had me hooked from the start with characters I could care about. A strong well structured story and plot and enough skilful double edge to insure it never slipped into sentimentality. It has my vote!

  • Alice Josephs: Still Baking

A sweet little bake-off piece which feels as if it could equally be a stand alone short film or radio play or part of a longer piece. Tantalising because we want to know what happens but the dialogue of this brief drama also gives us in a beautifully economical way a window into their whole lives.

  • Alice Josephs: ZOOM, ZOOM AND ... BOOM!

A credible online story arc for the Zoom era where the loving but strained relationship between two sisters is tested and resolved in a mere seven pages and a Mom learns to let go.

  • Alice Josephs: AND SCENE

A demanding and ingenious role for a male actor with vivid, colourful writing which would draw any listener or audience in before the final upbeat twist.
