  • Maximillian Gill: LIZZIE BORDEN GETS ENGAGED

Hilarious! Smartly written and sustained with a marvelous tension. The play keeps us guessing until the very last moment. The dialogue is expertly tuned to have a ring of the period while still feeling contemporary.

  • Maximillian Gill: Black Mexican

The proverbial play-that-I-could-not-stop-reading. The pace is brisk yet contemplative, and the significant issues brought up are carefully considered in all of their dimensions. The piece never shies away from how complicated these topics truly are and fully explores the ramifications of gate-keeping in all of its manifestations. Yet it never feels didactic and instead uses richly imagined, fully realized characters to express each point-of-view. A formidable, important, and urgent work.

  • Maximillian Gill: The God Part

I am astonished by how profound and deeply felt a journey these characters go through in such a short piece. Every line is crafted with great skill to bring us into the characters' worlds and let them breathe and give themselves to the moment. The philosophical underpinnings resonate and give us much to think about. Another wonderful piece from Goldstein.

  • Maximillian Gill: Tiger Beat

A fun and sharply written story with wonderful characters. Although a period piece, the portrayal of the exploitative nature of the music industry is still very much relevant. Tess, the heart of the story, is a particularly strong character, and her struggle to define herself in a frankly racist industry is very relatable and powerful. I particularly love the meta ending and the questioning of the very tropes employed in the play.

  • Maximillian Gill: lift

A lovely parable of acceptance of passing and faith in renewal, all envisioned through graceful magical realism. I can see this being beautifully and imaginatively rendered on stage.

  • Maximillian Gill: FINDING HELP (a 10 minute play)

Quick-witted and a very fun read, this play absolutely breezes by, but by the end you realize you've gone through a poignant journey with these characters and understand them on a very human level.

  • Maximillian Gill: Willy's Mom Gets in the Car

A daring, absorbing piece that acknowledges the pain and loss that can occur before a person commits to a rash and abominable act as well as the suffering that a parent goes through as they watch their child transform into something unthinkable. Challenging and rendered with the utmost sensitivity.

  • Maximillian Gill: Time to A Phantom

Simple and powerful. The best kinds of ghost stories are always motivated by simple human grief and loss. This one sneaks up on you, starting out comic but suddenly turning very intense and gripping. A fine short piece.

  • Maximillian Gill: Half of Chopsticks

A lovely play about family and so much more. The use of the ghost of the deceased father is a marvelous device to illuminate generations and loss and grievances that take determined work to resolve. The play and these determined characters do that work, and it's wonderful to behold.

  • Maximillian Gill: SCAPEGOAT

Sharp and full of the writer's trademark humor, this play is a breezy battle of wits between two quick-tongued goats, and yet it also digs deep into issues of immigration, political compromise, and geopolitical ethics. The way it accomplishes all of this in just ten minutes is a joy to behold.
