Sydney Green

Sydney is a New York City-based playwright. Her works focus on queer stories, unpacking sexual trauma, and finding generational love within yourself and your family. Previous works have included The Gospel of Joan (Crawford) as part of the Tank's 2023 Pride Festival--also able to be seen this summer at Edinburgh Fringe and 59e59--and Blood and Prayer with Imaginarium Theater Company. Sydney is a current MFA student at the New Group's novel and innovative Contemporary Theatre and Performance major.

She is a previous recipient of the Eugene O’Neil Scholarship from the National Theater Institute and a playwright in New York Stage and Film’s Powerhouse Theater Program. She was also a Playwriting Observer and Assistant to Sarah Ruhl in her NYSAF production of Becky Nurse of Salem and a member of the New Group’s prestigious playwriting program. She has a BA in Dramatic Literature and Anthropology from New York University, where she was a Presidential Scholar and President of Artists in Action.
While primarily working as a playwright, Sydney also has experience in dramaturgy, other theatrical research, and devising.

Synopsis
