I am so happy my search for possible TYA materials led me here! Clare and Joshua have created a fantastical western musical adventure that is truly suitable for all ages. I especially loved the conversation between Billy and Kit about how hard it is to be an older sibling, and (of course) the music is a treat! This play has my TYA educator stamp of approval.

This play struck, like, 5 chords in me. 'Shake the Disease' is a beautiful (and terrifying) example of queer mythology. The structure of the play itself is cause enough for praise: time contorts itself to fit this multi-generational tale. This play not only draws attention to queer history, but forces you to live it, witness it, acknowledge it.

WORM. TEETH. WORM. TEETH. WORM. TEETH.
A crazy concept with an even crazier execution. I was squealing in my chair and chomping my teeth and stomping my feet and shielding my eyes from the terrifying dentist. Like worm, I found myself wanting MORE by the end of the play. MORE. TEETH. MORE. WORM. TEETH.

I rarely cry at plays, but the ending of this play hit me like a truck when I heard it read aloud. What a fantastic (and hilarious) (and gut wrenching) portrait of grief, solitude, miscommunication... as someone who has lost a parent, this was such a healing piece to see.

BUGS!!! Moon makes you cry and laugh all at once. This play sneaks up on you and seeps into your heart. By the end, it's hard to part from these wonderful, sad, existential truckers.

This show pulled me in and didn't release me until the last line. Who is Margaret? What is the agency? Why are there so many crying children outside? This is one of those treasures where you only have more questions by the end. Plus, it's absurd. And everything is better with some absurdity.

I am (and will always be) a duckass superfan. What starts as an unassuming-yet-somehow-unsettling love story leaves you with your jaw on the ground by the last page. I love the weirdness of these characters!
  • We're All Girls Here
    24 Aug. 2022
I love this absurd little show. Ragone makes you examine the "world of girls" and all the strange social contracts we are so afraid to break. Lots of painful laughter while reading this one.

The relationship between these two women is rich and authentic. This story is full to the brim of love, hope, and joy, even around such deep struggle. A must-see!

"Samaritans" is simultaneously simple and profound, poetic and hilarious. Arden's style is wholly unique and paints a striking image in your head.
