Artistic Statement

I unearth what makes people move, breathe, and on occasion dance. How our feelings, our emotions, our passions birth themselves into the physical world through our bodies, our voices, and our spirit. How the space between characters becomes charged, cavernous, or non-existent. And how a world can weigh down, uplift, or ignite the undiscovered parts of who we are.

The worlds of my plays tend toward the sparse, but physically charged. The realism of my plays often finds and delves into its own cracks, where myth has always been and will continue to be. I challenge with puzzles and introspection. I surprise with the cute and awkward. And I'm always looking for new and fresh ways to re-engage an audience with the magic of discovery.

As a bisexual playwright my goals are to empower women through historical example and magical realism, create celebratory and meaningful stories centering queer characters, and to expose and confront the dangers of conservative ideology.
