One of my favorite new plays. This play tackles the opioid crisis with a clear, crisp, and personal story. aryl's voice is singular, and her characters continue to amaze and find humor and humanity in the gravest of circumstances. The three women at the center of this play are authentic, flawed, and important new voices. Produce this play.

  • Jason Parrish: Maybe, Probably

What a fun, funny, and fresh new play that looks at the various angles about being a parent. Eric's language is clever, the characters accessible, and the story universal. Florida Rep showcased this play in our 2018 PlayLab Festival, and the audiences were drawn to the characters and their journey through the trials of becoming parents.

  • Jason Parrish: Berta, Berta

Beautiful, poetic, heart-wrenching, and important. Angelica's use of language is unparalleled, and I cannot say enough good about these characters and this story. This is a unique and magical play that comes from the heart of the American South. This is a play and a playwright to watch. Florida Rep was honored to include Berta, Berta in our 2018 PlayLab Festival.

This play will blow you away. Michelle has given us a play that looks at a true event in American history through the lens of a family crisis. Her central character, Barbara Timm, is one of the great roles for women, and needs to be done. She treats the Iranian students like fully rounded human beings,. and one walks away from this knowing the PEOPLE at the heart of the story - and you identify with each of them. This play takes some very large issues and makes them personal. Audiences in Florida Rep's 2018 PlayLab were in awe.

  • Jason Parrish: The Burdens

This play is something special. Fresh, funny, irreverent, and incredibly twisted - this has something for everyone. I laughed on every page, and was delighted to include it in Florida Rep's 2018 PlayLab Festival. Its take on family in the 21st century when communication in an age of technology can be just as complicated and fulfilling as a living room drama. Matt has given us something wholly unique that will resonate with audiences all over the country and all over audience demographics for so many reasons. I cannot say enough good about his view into these characters' lives.

  • Jason Parrish: Alabaster

Audrey's play is a beautiful character study. It has deep and flawed and human characters that keep you rapt for the duration. Florida Rep showcased this play in our 2018 PlayLab and have committed to the premiere in the fall of 2019. This is an important piece for so many reasons, but all the more because it is a vehicle for three women to really dig into characters too few and far between in the American Theatre. Humor, heart, love, loss, and even some magic realism. Do yourself a favor and read this play.

  • Jason Parrish: A Pier At The Edge Of The World

I cannot say enough good about this play. The characters are so vividly drawn and the story incredibly moving. This play could be done minimally or on a more grand scale, and give actors, a director, and designers a really beautiful story to tell. It is funny, moving, tense, electric, and full of hope and redemption. This is a powerful story of how one (unconventional) family tries to make their part of the world a better place for their children.

  • Jason Parrish: We Will Not Be Silent

This is an incredibly important play for right now, and do not be afraid that it is preachy or too academic. Even the reading was lightly staged, and the action makes it incredibly suspenseful - almost a psychological thriller. When we look back to the Nazi rise to power, we wonder how it happened. How did ordinary Germans allow it? What did they do to resist? Did anyone resist? Some did, and this is their story. This play is a chilling portrait of how a repressive regime comes to power and how ordinary Germans managed to look the other way.

  • Jason Parrish: The Gentleman Thief

This play is incredibly funny, inventive, and full of great characters. I was lucky to play a role for Florida Rep's 2017 PlayLab Festival, and cannot say enough good about the script. It is sort of "Gentleman's Guide meets 20s crime caper." Fast-paced, funny, and full of heart. This is Mark Brown at his most inventive. The laughs came steady for the May 2017 reading.

  • Jason Parrish: Damascus

Florida Repertory Theatre read this play as part of its 2017 PlayLab Festival, and it has been selected for a premiere in the fall of 2018. This is a tight, timely, and hopeful play about what drives someone to be a terrorist and what it is to be Muslim and African in America today. These roles are great for actors to dive into, and could be staged on a small. An important, provocative, timely, and moving story of forgiveness. A MUST-READ!
