If you rean Jean Paul Satre's "No Exit" and found the concept to be interesting then you need to read this play. Another reference would be if you like the musical "Ride The Cyclone" then this is also for you. Fenton expertly takes the idea of purgatory and riffs of it while tackling the topic of queer people in religous settings. I would love to see this on stage, you have to read it. Such an easy read too!

Closure within grief is so hard to encapsulate let alone grasp, but it is depicted very humorously here if such things could be displayed humorously. Very enjoyable and sweet.

Smoot recommended this play to me after reading one of mine. I hadn't seen his recommendation to read it for a while, but very thankful I did. As a fellow Texan, I have found so much in Smoot's writing. There is such a pay off to getting through the play. The idea of fear within any kind of intimacy was something that I think many queer people who grew up in not so accepting circumstances can relate to. If you have the chance you have to read this play, it is so moving!

I enjoyed how the play balances between romantic ideals and harsh realities. Lorenzo embodies romanticism in such an endearing way. The play also cleverly explores differing perspectives on life, using theater as a metaphor for authenticity versus spectacle. Definitely a good read, it feels like it dips into the ideas of film noir. I really enjoyed those moments of the play when it felt slightly Old-Hollywood.

As an actor and writer who prefers a two hander or smaller plays to larger cast plays, Logan Butcher’s “The Sandwich Artists” is another example that reminds me why I have that preference. Butcher makes it so easy to connect to these characters because the play operates using an intimate sense of comedy and romance due to the lack of extra characters. I grew up in Katy, Texas, a suburb just outside of Houston, and had a Subway down the street so I automatically felt endeared to the setting. A great story with lots of heart and very sentimental.
