  • Like a joy and I cried and felt the rain on my skin and wow, I hope the end of the world is beautiful. :)

  • This play is a must read for anyone who has been a musician or a trained vocalist. The play thrives on the humor that comes from music and being trained on it. Then the constant back and forth of competition, and classic want of that first chair position that I was so familiar with as a retired band kid. As always Potter has written something that is just a joy and heartfelt to read. Need to see it staged!

  • Saw this at 59e59 and thought it was a really lovely two hander about terrifying realities. The production was lovely, and the writing really sings when put into a realistic box set. The setting feels claustrophobic in the same way some of the greatest plays do with their respective settings.

  • An adorable time capsule of a play and a reflection on that place that brings back so many special memories, good and bad. Also, as someone who wrote a play about people around a campfire that also has music I’m very very bias to this play, I’m aware. The song choice is always immaculate and tells you exactly how the play should feel. It’s a wonderful guide map of music that ties this play in a wonderful bow. Would love to see a production of this:)

  • The way I want to see this play on stage! I love how integral the themes of routine are to this play and how the thing that we do every week that brings us joy can often become the thing that destroys the love of the game, whatever our version of the game might be. Engaging with what we love is a delicate relationship we can get burned by if we don't treat it right.

  • Joshua Taylor Piper: Cockroaches

If you like "Plano" by Will Arbury, you have to read this play. It's so wonderful and weird and it truly is a Southern Gothic play. I'd be willing to say in a way it defines the genre. Truly a lovely read!

  • Joshua Taylor Piper: Plague Play

Recently read this and finished it in one sitting. This play explores the story of the Ten Plagues in such an interesting way. The characters are at constant odds with the situation they are in and it all engenders interesting moral implications of the ten plagues. Aaron being the source of the ten plagues complicates the situation immensely, and the play answers every question that might come up in a graceful and plot driven way. Truly, a very compelling adaptation.

If you rean Jean Paul Satre's "No Exit" and found the concept to be interesting then you need to read this play. Another reference would be if you like the musical "Ride The Cyclone" then this is also for you. Fenton expertly takes the idea of purgatory and riffs of it while tackling the topic of queer people in religous settings. I would love to see this on stage, you have to read it. Such an easy read too!

  • Joshua Taylor Piper: is my sun shining?

Closure within grief is so hard to encapsulate let alone grasp, but it is depicted very humorously here if such things could be displayed humorously. Very enjoyable and sweet.

I enjoyed how the play balances between romantic ideals and harsh realities. Lorenzo embodies romanticism in such an endearing way. The play also cleverly explores differing perspectives on life, using theater as a metaphor for authenticity versus spectacle. Definitely a good read, it feels like it dips into the ideas of film noir. I really enjoyed those moments of the play when it felt slightly Old-Hollywood.
